Scottish Botanical Painting & Writing Inks
The paint and ink artisans who founded Wallace Seymour have worked in close collaboration with the Fife Arms to create this bespoke set of natural inks. Using seasonal plants foraged from the hotel and its surrounding landscape by the Fife Arms’ in-house forager – as well as birch soot collected from the hotel’s fireplaces – they have hand crafted a collection of inks that are reminiscent of historic pigments. Without recourse to chemical additives, the resulting hues are subtle and complex, letting the true character of their natural ingredients speak softly on the page.
These inks can be used for painting and writing with a sable brush, a Scottish reed pen or with a traditional dip pen.

They have created unique ranges of pigments, taking inspiration from ancient and long-forgotten colours alongside modern hues, and have sourced a great array of dry pigments, many of which come from original quarries and are processed by hand.
Their exploration of botanical plant colours led to their collaboration with The Fife Arms, creating this bespoke set of inks using plants foraged from the hotel and its surrounding landscape.
