The Fife Arms Trout Fly Fishing Tin

£145

Based on the River Dee in Scotland – famous for its fine fishing – TwinPeakes is dedicated to the art of fly fishing. The team's deep knowledge of the waters, the fish and the natural world of the Highlands means that they are able to pick the right fly for every condition to maximise the chances of a catch. With this experience, they have created a collection of bespoke trout flies most suited to Highland fishing spots – all hand tied using the Fife Arms colours.

The 12 flies are presented in an engraved aluminium fly tin made by renowned fly tin maker Richard Wheatley Ltd, lined with sustainable British wool.

Contents:

2 x Fife Zulu – a wet fly characterised by a red tail and dark hackle. Highly effective top dropper tripped across the surface waves on dull, windy days.
2 x Olive Dabbler – Dabblers, which have great movement in the water, are commonly used on Scottish lochs for wild trout and sea trout.
2 x Cairngorms Palmered – Palmered flies can be fished dry, giving a great surface impression, or sunk, when their mobility comes into play. Excellent for traditional loch-style fishing.
2 x Braemar Showshoe Emerger – emerger flies are tied to represent the transitional phase of an insect between its nymph or larva stage and its adult form – an irresistible sight to a hungry trout.
2 x Wee Muddler – Muddler flies work on most types of water – both lochs and rivers – and can be fished dry, wet or semi-submerged. They create an irresistible commotion for passing trout to investigate.
2 x Deeside Sedge – Sedge flies are good for fresh water. Imitating the caddis or sedge, which is nocturnal, they lure trout out for an evening snack.

Born on the banks of the renowned River Dee in Scotland with skills honed on rivers throughout the world, TwinPeakes is passionate about the art of fly fishing. From their hub in Royal Deeside, they teach casting and run guided fishing experiences for everyone from the novice looking forward to their first catch to competent fishers who want to finesse their technique.

Richard Wheatley

The Richard Wheatley Fly Box is known and prized by fishermen throughout the world. Wheatley started his business in 1860, making fishing pocketbooks out of leather. In the 1800s, Richard's eldest son joined the business as a partner and together they developed the first fly clip to hold eyed flies. In 1900, aluminium was first introduced and Richard Wheatley was one of the first English manufacturers to use this new material, developing a special satin finish that is still used today. The aluminium fly boxes are made in the same way that they have been for over a hundred years.
