The Fife Arms Hand-Turned and Hand-Painted Wooden Eggs

£70
Style:

Original additions to the Easter tablescape – and lovely objects in their own right – these hand-painted wooden eggs have been crafted from sustainably sourced storm-fallen Highland wood, hand-turned by Andy Walters of Black Isle Woodturning.

They have been hand painted by Christine Clark, an Edinburgh-based artist who paints sweeping landscapes and dreamscapes. Her designs honour the capercaillie – a magnificent game bird, now endangered, that resides in the pinewoods of Scotland – and the thistle, proud emblem of Scotland.

Dimensions: approx. 9cm x 5cm (at its widest point)

MORE ABOUT

Black Isle Woodturning

Andy Walters was captivated when, as a small child on holiday in Wales, he saw a wood turner working at his lathe. He went on to study Mechanical Engineering but came across a lathe while working as a technician in a school workshop in his 20s, and his passion was reignited. He created Black Isle Woodturning out of a passion for sustainability and the preservation of this ancient craft. Based in the Highlands, he sources his wood from the surrounding landscape – much of it windfall from winter storms.

Christine Clark

Edinburgh-based artist Christine Clark studied painting at Edinburgh College of Art before establishing her studio in that city. She is known for her spiritual paintings of the natural world which capture the poetry of the landscape. She has exhibited internationally as well as closer to home, with a recent project being a large commission for the Rohallion Care Clinic in Perth, Scotland.
