The Fife Arms Christmas Card
The Victorian era saw the rise of the Christmas card, which often featured delicate paper 'lace'. To honour this tradition, The Fife Arms commissioned Laura Sayers, a Glasgow-based illustrator and paper artist, to create this intricately crafted card. Laura developed her distinctive way of working, which involves scissors and layers of paper, during her time at art school, creating bold images that focus on colour, scale and shape. The card has a miniature dolls house feel to it, opening out to an illustration of the hotel's interior drawn by architectural artist Will Knight, who has captured the quirky character and warm atmosphere of the place in charming detail.

MORE ABOUT
Laura Sayers
Laura is an English illustrator and paper artist based in Scotland. She developed her distinctive way of working – which involves a simple pair of scissors and layers of paper – while at art school. She has worked with writers, musicians, paper makers, dancers, animators and magicians, with particular clients including the V&A Museum and Puffin Books. Her Glasgow studio is in a beautiful old building which used to be a fish market (which, thankfully, no longer smells of fish).
Will Knight
Glasgow-based artist Will Knight trained in Architecture before moving into architectural drawing. His work investigates domestic, commercial and industrial buildings through careful recording, measurement and drawing to scale by hand. His use of watercolour adds character and turns his drawings from accurate depictions of dimensions into works of art that express the character of the building and the 'lived experience' of a space.
